Poster/Poem Contest Event sponsored by Christian Co. Council on Child Abuse and Neglect

The Christian County Council on Child Abuse and Neglect is again sponsoring a Poster/Poem Contest as one of the activities scheduled during the month of April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  The theme this year is “Commit to Prevent Child Abuse”.

 

K-2 will be able to submit posters

3-12 will be able to submit posters and or poems

 

The entries will be divided into four groups and each group will have one 1st place, one 2nd place and one 3rd place.

 

A.      Kindergarten – Second Grade

B.      Third – Fifth grade

C.      Sixth – Eighth Grade

D.      Ninth – Twelfth Grade

 

Prizes for Poster and Poem Contest:

 

A.      First place winners will receive $30.00

B.      Second place winners will receive $20.00

C.      Third place winners will receive $10.00

 

Deadline:  The entry deadline for both posters and poems will be March 23, 2018.

 

Any size poster board or art paper will be accepted.  The poster should be in the student’s own work.  The poem must also be the student’s work and focused more on ideas about preventing child abuse.

Students name, school name, age, grade and homeroom teacher’s name must be on the back of all entries.   Entries without this information will be disqualifiedNo names are to be visible on the front.

Students can also create a theme for their school in relationship to the poem and poster contest entries by using their school’s mascot. 

 

The Family Resource and Youth Services Centers will collect their schools top five (5) posters and top five (5) poems.  The top 5 choices will be taken to the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center located at 1102 East 21st street.  Entries will be judged and notification will be sent to the schools of the winners.  Students who place in the contest will be invited, along with their families to the Christian County Prevent Child Abuse Candlelight Vigil tentatively on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Freedom Elementary School.
